The Cacao House Willies-Tours-Cacao-House-and-Waterfall-Tour-Cacao-Fruit and Waterfall Tour is a great way to be immersed into the rich culture of Costa Rica. This three to four hour adventure combines two stops on the Bri Bri reserve to further your knowledge of the Indigenous tribe in relation to the tradition of the Cacao Plant and the surrounding jungle.

The first stop is to the Cacao House on the Bri Bri reserve. The Bri Bri is an indigenous tribe found near Cahuita, Costa Rica. The tribe was originally living in the Talamanca Mountain range, primarily living off the land with no running water or electricity. The term “Bri Bri” represents the language, the tribe, the culture and the town. At the Cacao House you will see a demonstration of the traditional process of making organic chocolate that has been passed down from generation to generation for over 300 years.

Cacao is used in the Bri Bri lifestyle for healing, purification and medicinal purposes. At the end of the demonstration there will be time for questions and chocolate tasting. Organic chocolate makes for the perfect unique souvenir, bringing the rich flavor home.

The second stop is to an exotic waterfall on the Bri Bri reserve where you will hike for 30 minutes through primary forest, crossing rivers to reach your beautiful destination. This waterfall was where the Bri Bri performed rituals and ceremonies for purification and healing purposes. Although the water is no longer used for ceremonies, the area is still thought to cleanse the body. The water springs from the top of the Talamanca Mountain Range, dropping into a naturally formed swimming pool where you will have the opportunity to refresh yourself in the cool water. This part of the tour presents you with beautiful scenery and the chance to really admire the landscape of Costa Rica. Along the hike you will have the opportunity to see the famous “Poisonous” Red Frog and the blue butterfly, which is sought after for luck and good health.

For The Cacao House and Waterfall Tour there is a two-person minimum. To ensure our clients satisfaction, we recommend making a reservation for this tour at least one day in advance. For your convenience this tour can be reserved for either the morning or the afternoon.

Great trip
Really interesting trip to the cocoa farm. We learnt how the process is, and got to buy some really cheap original chocolate.

The Waterfall trip was really nice, beautiful surroundings, and impressive nature. And it was extremely refreshing to take a nice dip in the waterfall lake.

Highly recommended.
