Willies-Tours-Snorkeling-Tour-in-Cahuita-Coral-Reef-Tropical-Fish-Amongst-Coral

The snorkeling tour is a great way to explore Cahuita’s coral reef surrounding the tip of the National Park referred to as Punta Cahuita. The park was established in 1978 and has continued to be the only national park in Costa Rica to rely solely on donations. Donations received are put towards keeping the park in up most condition free of littering and maintaining the safety of the wildlife and visitors in the park. The reef in the National Park is filled with over 240 marine species including wildlife such as tropical fish, mollusks, nurse sharks and lobsters.

At Willies Tours Costa Rica we do our best to make our clients comfortable by ensuring their safety and of course a good experience. The tour will begin with a short training session with do’s and don’ts while on the tour. It is especially important to remember that the coral is alive and touching will kill. It is strongly advised that sunscreen is put on a half an hour in advance before beginning the tour. Not only will this better protect your skin from the sun, it will also protect the coral. If sunscreen is put on to close to departure it will come off in the water and linger above the coral. Important to remember safety first by following the guides directions and using flotation devices at your dispense if you are uncomfortable in the waters.

The equipment will be provided during the training session before entering the boat. The boat will take you to Punta Cahuita that is part of the Cahuita National Park, 3.5 Kilometers from the Cahuita entrance. From there you will snorkel in two different locations to fully explore. While in the water you will follow a guide, a Cahuita native and nature specialist, who will explain the coral reef and the lush wildlife.
After snorkeling the reef you will stop at Punta Cahuita where you can catch your breath, relax and take in the incredible scenery while enjoying some fruit and water. While spending time at the point you may see common animals that live in the forest such as Capuchin and Howler monkeys, a variety of frogs, reptiles and birds. Capuchin monkeys are known for lingering around in hopes of left over fruit, but beware for they will not hesitate to take your bag and search for food in there as well. For returning to town you have three options: returning to town by boat or walking through the park on your own or being accompanied by a guide. The tour lasts a total of two and a half to three hours.
For The Snorkeling Tour, we recommend making a reservation for this tour the morning of due to the unpredictable weather. To ensure our clients satisfaction, we speak with our guides every morning to guarantee visibility and great snorkeling conditions.

Great tour
Very authentic and nice to see that the area is preserved and you dont get to snorkle on all spots so they dont get spoiled. But to other things.. You should tell your boatmen to park the boats a little more away from the corals! They ´park´ them just over the corals and all the pollution gets just into them when they strat the engins. You should also make an effort to put just one trashcan for the first part of the trekking tour (you have to carry al your trash to the end) And that is bad for at national park. So if you could suggest that - it would be great!
